Where is my tooth? A case of multiple cough-induced rib fracture

Abstract

Rib fracture can occur from cough in presence of osteoporosis, malignancy or renal disease. In absence of these risk factors, it is very rare to happen and we found only few case reports where rib fracture due to cough happened without any risk factors. Our patient had persistent and forceful cough secondary to probable aspiration of foreign body leading to rib fracture. Such cases should always be reviewed thoroughly to evaluate and treat any potential reversible causes.
